While roaming around La Candelaria last weekend, I walked past this beautiful array of traditional Colombian sweets.
Let me assure you that a man in a candy store is no different from a kid in a candy store, at least in my case.
After staring at the window for a good 5 minutes trying to decide how greedy I was going to be, I came to the conclusion that one sweet was more than enough as they were all pretty huge and too much sugar would probably put me in an unnecessary food coma.
I happily left the shop with a cocada de arequipe, a real no-brainer now that I think about it. Just like peanut butter and jelly were destined to be together, this simple sweet brings together big chunks of real coconut mixed in with a generous portion of creamy arequipe, making it the perfect Colombian union.
I don’t know how I managed to get home without even taking a bite but I’m glad I did as I was able to sugar bomb with a nice cup of black coffee.
