My name is Loon and I am an ex-accountant/travelling foodie originally from Brisbane, Australia.
I quit my office job in 2009 as I wanted to see what life was like living out of a backpack and found myself eating and travelling around South East Asia, Europe and the United States for over a year. Deciding that office life was no longer for me, I wound up living in Colombia and haven’t left since.
The most rewarding part of travelling for me has been to live and fully immerse myself into a culture and I believe one of the best ways to do that is through food. When I first came to Colombia, I didn’t speak Spanish and I thought Colombian food was simple and bland, an opinion that’s widely expressed within the expat community. I realised that I needed to give Colombian food a second chance and made it a mission to seek out the most authentic food in the city, saying yes to anything that was on my plate, no matter how obscure it was.
I started this blog as a medium to document and share all the positive gluttonous experiences I’ve been having in this crazy city. I hope you enjoy looking through my food diary as much as I enjoy eating, cooking, photographing and writing it.
